Splash Internet and the NBN Rollout FAQs

The National Broadband Network (NBN) rollout in the Bega Valley Shire has been happening for a while. Now that the rollout is nearing completion, you are probably wondering how it is going to affect your Internet service with Splash Internet? Below is a brief outline of how our services work. 

Internet Services

Splash Internet will continue to operate independently of the NBN. Our services do not rely on any phone line connections. We install fixed-point wireless dedicated equipment at the client’s location (an antenna). The antenna is aimed at one of our base stations. Radio waves then travel through the air, allowing you to access high speed internet.

Splash Internet is a local company that has built up its own infrastructure over the last 10 years, so we do not rely on any of the NBN infrastructure. We cross-connect directly with the larger carriers in the regional POP (Point Of Presence). Our internet services are only available in the Bega Valley Shire, and we will continue to maintain and build on that infrastructure on an ongoing basis.

When the NBN is finally rolled out, you will not need to move across to it (as reported by some radio, television and print agencies). Splash Internet provides a unique service in Australia as we have independent, fixed-point wireless infrastructure already in place. With only a few other companies nationwide who have built their own infrastructure independent of the NBN, we are fast becoming one of the largest networks providing this type of service. In summary your internet connection with Splash will remain as it is, you do not have to do anything. 

Please be assured that we will also work as best we can with the NBN. We will be monitoring the roll out to see if we can use the NBN in a positive way in the future. We are consistently upgrading and expanding our network to ensure that we are providing the best possible services to our customers. If we want the best for ourselves then you deserve it too!

If Splash does provide your business with VOIP services, nothing will change with the roll out of the NBN.
